What exactly do you think you're doing up there?
Well.. I finished it up and added some extra touches (Saffron Chao and a background that ISN'T black for once) that set me back about 32 minutes from when I wanted to finish but the end result makes it all that much more worth it.
Before anyone castigates me on the figure, hourglass figures have typically kicked my ass. hard. This is my first full on digital pic of a female Sonic character ever and my first attempt in general in about a year so if you feel like I got some stuff wrong, perfectly understandable.
Those of you who still see people's Scrapbooks may have noticed a sketch I had up for a couple days.. of this exact thing. It was like a private preview I guess since the scraps are so isolated nowadays. But after input from friends and others I decided to go ahead and bring Violet to life.
Why the name? I was sticking to a theme. Saffron was named after a purple flower so I decided why not do the same here, and it definitely helps create a believable name that doesn't sound like complete gibberish (I'm bad at making up names generally so it's a help.) And as for the eye color, I didn't want to go the same purple purple route as I had gone with Saff. Red and Blue seemed too obvious, but a certain holiday coming up inspired me to go with the color green. The eye color is directly influenced by St. Patty's day, I guess that ties it in to be my contribution to the widely overlooked holiday.
The Saffron Chao was added for a cuteness effect but it doesn't necessarily imply anything, or at least it doesn't at this current point in time, I just felt that by her facial expression it was like there was a bit of a "why are you there" look if there is something like that. So I filled the void. Besides, it turned out a lot cuter in the end just by taking the extra 30 minutes to turn out a simple Chao design and clean it up with shading and lighting.
I kept with some of my character design staples, the sash for instance and tending to keep with a purple primary base (though adding more variety to the color with Violet than I did with Saff.) My favorite design element was probably the glove.. only because it looks like the glove was cold and it got itself a jacket. xD
Besides, the glove has a (> = )) smiley face and that is always awesome to have. May do one of those short jacket things in the future as an extra clothing piece and slap that on the back. ^^
As for powers and stuff.. still undecided and partially unsure but for a generalization I would say she's more the speedy type.
