Woo had to paint a house and still got this done. Got a dentist appointment in the morning so I'll try and keep the description short.
Like I mentioned in the preview, I was trying to aim for a brighter sort of night look in this picture while experimenting yet again due to the fact that all I ever seem to focus on is majority shading, which makes all my pictures really really dark looking. This picture was inspired by the Pike Place Market in Seattle and the neon lights as you walk by it, illuminating the nearby area pretty brightly, in this case leaving a bright blue sheen on Saff. My reason for varying the levels of brightness is because the hair/fur composition and the composition of the apple are both light reflective, whereas dull cloth and shoe leather materials would not reflect light so brightly in comparison.
I tried to do something new with the eyes to make them look like I actually tried to make them look good for a change and I did some minor color tweaks by changing the color of the eye surrounding markings to better flow with the rest of Saff's color scheme and I also changed the purple on the palm side of his gloves to just be the same as the sashes and other neon purple areas, to simplify the color scheme overall and make it look less chaotic.
As for the anatomy, this picture looks a lot different than it did in its sketch form, as I tried to get a look that more closely resembled the SEGA designs. The body was shortened a tad and made slightly more bulky, I decreased the feet and hand sizes slightly so Saff looked less like bigfoot with a haircut, and I shortened the legs to be about 1.5x the length of the body (counting the parts covered by the shoes) the overall changes produced a less lanky and (IMO) better overall structure that seemed more in proportion than many of my previous attempts. I'm mapping out what I did this time to try and continue a similar anatomic structure in future works.
Another cheap generic background... anyone.. if I ever collab with you I hope you're doing the BG because I never seem to care what they come out looking like. xD
