Aftermath :1: The Sunset After

"They (the doctors) say lie down and rest off all the bangs and bruises.. I say it's time to get back on my feet.. It's like they say 'Get knocked down.. Hop back onto your feet and continue the ass kicking....' They say they know whats best, and probably do, but I have a score to settle with a rusty tin can named Nova. For whatever reason he didn't finish his business back there, and that mistakes gunna cost him big... Still, gotta wonder WHY he wouldn't, either I got lucky or there's more to that armor coated hog... just thinking about this is gunna bug me for awhile."

Halfway finishing what "A Book With Cover Broken" started in budding the rivalry between Saffron and Nova. A real scrap fest until the end, steel plating proved to be the difference maker, all though Big N didn't make it out without a scratch by any means (as I plan to illustrate later.)

Waking up nearly 20 hours later, the headstrong Purple Hedgehog found himself bandaged up pretty heavilly and lying inside a hospital bed, all though the staff made the mistake of leaving his gloves and shoes nearby and handy. With his mind made up almost from the waking moments, he readies himself to prematurely leave, an action that the doctors and other staff try to prevent but will ultimately fail in, even moving with a slight limp and aching all over from the previous night, he is able to get back into the free world and be more ready for a second confrontation with Nova. Better be more ready next time or there could be much more pain coming his way, since pride and perseverance with no plan is no better than stupidity.


The picture itself focused on the central character figure and the overall concept switched up multiple times, from having a random doctor character in it (which didn't pan out so I dropped the idea) to a cityscape outside the windows (a real pain in the ass that I would have not liked to try at this time, so I dropped it too.) So instead I settled on a semi simple hospital windowed wall and a calming yet "firey intense" sunset, which could be the backdrop for some of the Purple hedgehog's anger or firey spirit. It contrasted with the shading to me real nicely as well so it was what I eventually settled on. A final slight tint to help make everything flow and I found the pic to be complete. I would like to think of this as one of the best drawings I've done of Saff if not the best, and it will help pave the way for future, more detailed, character illustrations.
